Ohio State Highway Patrol, Press Release The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced Thursday that an OVI checkpoint will be held in Hamilton County Friday evening. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. 'Based on provisional data, there were 11,833 OVI-related crashes in which 668 people were killed and over 4,808 people were injured in Ohio in 2022,' Lieutenant Scott J. Kuntz, Commander of the Cincinnati Patrol Post said. 'State troopers made 15,036 OVI arrests in 2022 in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers.
